"dab. . ." he murmured to himself under his breath. The young Sword Bearer turned to the Insane Space Hunter and Kejardon. "I have to go now," Sword Bearer announced quietly. "Hey, that's okay, there's a bathroom right over there," the Insane Space Hunter pointed. "No, no, I have to go fight dab. . . alone." "You sure?" ISH asked. "Yes. I'll journey out to the Middle Plains. When I get there, I'll set up camp. Hopefully the vile one will show himself again, if he isn't too much of a coward. This is no longer just about challenge, this is about honor, and respect to the Changer." Once again, the scar across Sword Bearer's face throbbed with an unimaginable pain. The lone Sword Bearer stood up, and began his laborious trek to the Middle Plains. The Insane Space Hunter, surprised at his young friend's sudden seriousness, escorted Outerverse up to the Quest of Insanity. . . Copycat! You got that scar thing off of Harry Potter! The young hero hit the sandy ground with a thud. Rolling over, eyes staring into the sun, Sword Bearer let out a cry of pain that echoed throughout the hills, as though the spirits of the goblins he once chased were mocking his howls of desperation. "Why have you done this! Why have you brought me here!!" Sword Bearer screamed at the sky, still on his back. Hours slowly passed. A pair of vultures appeared at the peak of the sky. As he watched the feathery scavengers glide through the blue, the vultures slowly melted into the form of the Goblin Prince. The disgusting royalty cackled at Sword Bearer. The Goblin Prince opened his gaping grin wider and wider, until Sword Bearer and the rest of the world were swallowed by the monstrous jaws. Down, down, down Sword Bearer tumbled through the infinite blackness, devoured by his nemesis. Sword Bearer awoke from his bizarre hallucination with a nose bleed and a cold sweat across his brow. "What is going on? Changer, why do you do this to me?! Why do you torment me so!?" Sword Bearer was on the verge of insanity. He came looking to destroy a beast in the name of the Changer, and to defend his pride, but was pounded with visions of imiginary translucent spectres dancing in front of his eyes. Thinking all was lost, the young bearer of swords began contemplating how he would reach civilazation, when he saw a figure soaring through the sky. Big Trouble in Destronica -Part 2- Posted by Outerverse on 10/28/2000, 11:12 pm165.121.59.16 Part 2: Fire and Ice With map in hand, and Chilly willy navigating, Billy Chilly speeds toward the entrance to Destronica. As he flies, he realizes that his chill suit cannot withstand the intense heat of Destronica, so he makes a bee-line back to where the Chilly Hilly was. He entered the small igloo and took the still operational freight elevator down to the sub-sub-basment lab to see if he could salvage anything. To his surprise, Sasuke's Docmen had already completely restored the lab and made even upgrades to boot. He was impressed with their quick and excellent workmanship, but the total restoration of the complex was far from complete. After looking around the lab he couldn't find anything to enhance his suit. Also, the Docmen reported to him that they didn't find any working suits, so he left the Hilly and started back for the entrance of FireNexus' lair. "I hope WaveMan has some ideas, otherwise this is going to be the shortest battle in MDb history!" he said to Chilly Willy as he sped off back toward Destonica. Meanwhile, WaveMan was swiming up river from Magic Mountain, still confused about what he saw. He noticed that he wasn't making much progress heading upstream, so he decided to call up a small Water Wave, just big enough to change the river's flow for a while. Now that he was making progress he bagan to think about how he and Billy Chilly would withstand the intense heat of Destronica, much less take out FireNexus in it's home turf. He looked back to see how far he had gone. Magic Mountain was finally fading over the horizon. 'I be going faster than I though' he thought. Soon he had arrived at the waterfall, which oddly enough, was near the forest FireNexus had torched. He climbed up the river bank on to dry land. "I still can't figure out a way to be gettin' in to that oversized ruby with out bein' cooked to me circuits," he said to himself, "much less how Billy be survivin' in that heat." He had started to pace as he thought, when he heard some bushes rustling. "Who be ye? And, what do ye want?" the robot said as he stopped and turned to look at the bushes. "I be...uh...I am Sasuke," a robot said as he stepped out of the bushes, "and I thought you and Billy might need some assisstance." WaveMan scouled, "We be needin' no help a fightin' that blasted hunk o' glass, so be off with ye!" Just then he heard the familiar sound of Billy's jetpack. "Sasuke?" Billy said as he landed, "What are you doing here?" The robot replied, "Well, as I was trying to explain to Barnacle Bill over here," glancing at WaveMan, "I have some things that might help you in Destroinca." Sasuke pressed a button on a capsule and out popped a display with various objects on it. "You don't see that everyday!" said ISH, who had been chasing a fish upstream. "Where did that thing go? Come 'ere ya mullet!" he said has he began chasing the fish back downstream. "How does he...? Anyway, I used some of your spec sheets that the Docmen salvaged from your computers and came up with these!" Sasuke said, who was still puzzled as to why the Inasne Space Hunter turns up in the weirdest places at the weirdest times. Among the items were: A Chill Suit in silver and blue and a helmet with a face shield. "But we be havin' these already, toy man." the aquatic robot said. Sasuke glared at WaveMan and replied, "Well, Popeye, these are enhanced versions of your equpiment." He begins a sales-pitch type presentation, "Billy, the new Chill Suit is heat resistant and cools you off since you are used to the arctic climate, but you still don't want to be in there for too long. Your Dragon Cap will be useless in there, so here's a chill helmet instead which is designed like the new chill suit. The AZEC guns have been super charged, but I haven't had them tested them yet so use them with extreme caution. WaveMan, this new spear cannon has a HV accelerator and an icing option like Billy's Freeze Arrows. The arm blaster is also ice enhanced and it is at least 10 times more powerful than your current one. Also, you can call a Flood Summon and have Billy fire his AZEC guns in to it and create a wall of absolute zero ice. Finally, this capsule here," he points to a capsule with WM on it, "is an armor upgrade for you. With it, you too will be able to survive the fires of Destronica longer." "Just remember you two, your enhanced armor is not totally heat proof. Get in and get out as fast as you can. There are indicators on your armors that will turn red when the armor reaches it's breakdown point. If the indicator goes red, you two need to drop what you're doing and get the hell out of there. You will have only 2 minutes before you fry. Any questions?" Both shook their heads no. Sasuke clicked the WM capsule and dropped it. An upgrade pod popped out and WaveMan stepped in. There was a low whine and a flash of light, then WaveMan stepped out. He was now silver and blue like Billy's new suit. Now fully perpared, Billy Chilly and WaveMan walked into the portal behind the waterfall. They could still feel the heat but it was tolerable, almost unnoticeable. After what seemed like hours they stopped and checked their indicators...still blue, that was good. Continuing on, Billy started to grumble that his feet were hurting so WaveMan reminded him that his jetpack would have melted in the heat. Billy kept grumbling, but walked on. At last they came upon a large pool of magma. Billy shot a few arrows in and watched them do little to the magma. A few seconds went by and FireNexus rose out of the pool with the arrow stuck in the crystal. "I should have finished you both on the beach. I will soon rectify that mistake." the crystal spoke. The crystal began to glow and the arrows dissolved. "Care to try again, human?" it taunted. Billy fired a few more arrows at the crystal. However, they only served to annoy FireNexus. WaveMan shot a few ice spears, which had the same effect. "Okay, lets do this together." Billy said. The robot replied with "Right. It has become very clear that we cannot defeat it individually." WaveMan fired off a water wave and Billy shot an arrow into it as it hit FireNexus. The crystal shook, but no damage was apparent. WaveMan fired off another wave and this time Billy fired his guns as the wave hit the crystal. The surface cracked slightly. "Okay, now it is my turn." FireNexus said as he called up a pair of Fire Bursts. The two were flung into the air and landed with a hard thud. WaveMan helped Billy to his feet, but the two were met with a volley of Fire Bursts. Billy and WaveMan were dazed but otherwise unharmed, however, their indicators had changed to yellow. It was time to go on the offensive for the pair. WaveMan shot off a set of waves and Billy froze them with ice arrows as they hit FireNexus. FN replied with a Heat Field, which Billy and WaveMan weakened buy building a few ice walls to absorb a lot of the heat. And, the battle raged on as blows and cursings were exchanged. Finally, there was a pause in the action. The damage was clear to both sides...WaveMan and Billy's armor was damaged but still working. FireNexus looked worse being cracked badly and chipping. FireNexus was losing and getting desperate. It called out for help from SimBen and CapCom, but they could not enter the heat. FN could lower the temperature, but then it would give Billy and WaveMan an advantage. Stuck for a way to get the upper hand back, FN pulled out a desperation move. It began pulling heat into its core. Billy and WaveMan staggered at the sudden change in the heat flow. As FN pulled in more heat, its shell began to grow. Billy, looking at his indicator noticed that it was on the verge of turning red. "We need to get this over with, WaveMan." he shouted. FN was now 3 times as big and hotter than ever. "Behold, you pitiful wretches, the supreme power of 'Super FireNexus'!" the crystal said. Immediately it began to fire off combinations of Fire Bursts and Heat Beams at the two silver clad warriors. "NOTHING CAN WITHSTAND MY POWER, NOW! NOT EVEN THE PRINCE OF HADES!" FireNexus shouted, as its attacks grew fiercer. "We can hold off for much longer! Our armor is breaking down!" WaveMan yelled. Billy shouted back, "I have an idea! Use your Flood Summon and I'll fire my freezer guns into it as it hits! We'll take 'Super FireNexus' out with a 'Super Freeze Weasel'!" Billy began to force FireNexus lower to put it into the path of WaveMan's Flood Summon by freezing the air above it. WaveMan poured all the energy he could spare to create the largest flood he had even created. Billy in turn fired his freezer guns right at FN's place in the water and instantly the water froze. Although obscured from view by the steam coming off the ice, Billy and WaveMan could see the crystal begin to shrink and crack severely. Suddenly with a horrendous explosion, the energy that was FireNexus had been released from its crystalline container and it was now threatening to consume everything in its path. Like a massive heat field FireNexus' energy began to expand at an alarming rate. Billy and WaveMan raced for their lives trying to avoid being incinerated by FireNexus while dodging the flame columns and falling rocks. FireNexus was gaining on them and their armor was beginning to melt off, thankfully Sasuke made sure that the material wasn't a conductor or Billy and WaveMan would have bought it right then. Billy began to fatigue and fell, so with FireNexus still gaining, WaveMan dashed back and got Billy to his feet. The two ran as fast and as hard as they could, but FireNexus was now only a few yards behind them. It seemed that all was lost for the duo when the opening appeared just ahead! Just as FireNexus began to overtake them, the two dove through the opening and into the waterfall's pool. FireNexus could not continue outside of Destronica in his present state. Instead, it melted the rock surrounding the opening. No one would ever use that passage in to it domain again. Epilogue: Billy and WaveMan's soupped up Sasuke were unusable now. They swapped the destroyed equipment for their old stuff. "That was too damn close." Billy said, "Man, I look like a lobster! It's going to be good to get back in the cold again." WaveMan replied, "I bet matey. I need a good body shop, jest look at me fuselage!" They both turned to Sasuke and thanked him and the three went their separate ways. Meanwhile, FireNexus began to recollect itself in to a new shell. It muttered to itself, "How could those two have beaten me? I used every fiery trick in the book. I need to prepare for next time. The outcome will be different, oh yes, it will be VERY different." ...End The Fate of the MDbmb World may begin to sway. . . I didn't setup a confrontation between Billy and SimBen afterall. Also, CapCom was originally supposed to be in the fight before Super FireNexus, but I decided that it would be a better story without him. I put the 'indicator' time limit in the story, and having CapCom in the battle would have chucked that out the window. SimBen wasn't included because it would have been 3 on 2, which is a lot harder to write for. It was a tough enough battle for just the 3 main characters, adding a 4th would have made it near impossible for Billy and WaveMan to win. A 5th, was just ridiculous. Finally, I was going to have ISH popup in part 3, but decided 2 appearances in one story was enough...besides he may be insane, but I doubt that even HE would be crazy enough to enter Destronica with no protection. It took four hours until the Copter arived. It's door shot open and Sasuke jumped in and quickly put Waveman in one of his custom rejuvination chambers. Joeman turned around and asked," Holy crap! What the hell happened!? Did the Nexus do that?" Sasuke shook his head," No, him and Billy had been ambushed by two strange figures just after they had managed to escape Destronica. They didn't kill the Nexus, though. I managed to save Waveman, but those... those creatures kidnapped Billy. Right now though we should concentrate on getting back to the Hilly!" Joeman nodded and said," Right-o! Lets get to the Hilly!" He pushed a large button and the copter sped off like a jet. When they reached the Hilly, Sasuke idmediatly told his Docmen to heal Waveman. "In the mean time, I'll make some new weapons for him, and I'll also beef up his armor." He turned and saw Chilly Willy. " Er... Hi. You must be Chilly Willy? Am I right?" But Chilly Willy ignored his question and said," Where's Billy???" Sasuke looked down and said," Two human like cretures kidnaped him. When Waveman gets back to himself, though, I'm sure he'll go looking for Billy. This is why I plan to make him stronger. I'm also going to assist him in his rescue." Joeman quickly turned toward Sasuke in reaction to hearing this and said," You what? But you told me everything you saw! If you go... I go!" Sasuke looked at Joeman and let the thought roll over in his mind. Finally, he said," Well, alright but you must be careful. This enemy seems very sinister, so we musn't be reckless." Sasuke had waited nearly an entire day until Waveman was healed. He gave him the upgrades and told him that he should lead sice he didn't know where to find this being. Well, well, It seems I'm back after all! I'll now leave it to someone else to continue. But you all need to know Joeman's attacks, so here they are: Plasma Rifle: Joeman shoots the same bullets Megaman can shoot. Nuff said. Nova Bomb: A powerful grenade. It takes a while to explode though... Light Beam: Joeman's most powerful attack. It takes a while to charge but the beam is sure to leave a mark when it hits. SimBen growled. billy chilly was thrown down to the cold, steel chair at his workstation. He looked at the brain-dead BOBs next to him. "What's up guys?" No response. "Ugghhhh. . . Alright, gang, I've had about enough of this crap already," He lifted up his shirt, revealing a bundle of mechanical apparatus strapped around his torso, "Attention K-Mart shoppers! This is a cold fusion bomb! If you don't let me off this pile of space trash in about ten minutes, I'm blowin' this whole thing back to Hell, where it belongs!!" bil-chil set the time bomb for ten minutes. . . As the crystal regenerated, FN recieved a transmission from his partner, and archives specialist, CapCom. "Hey, FN, we got trouble,"CapCom told him. "Word on the grapevine is that your little sparring buddy was kidnapped by some sort of cyborg. He's being enslaved for some strange purpose." "And why should I care?" FN replied, in his normal, cold voice. "Because whatever the kid is being forced to work on, it can't be good. He is a genius. Also, a powerful ally such as him may be helpful." "Okay, I'm on it. *** All was quiet on the edge of Destronica...besides the roaring flames from Fire Nexus' power. A blue beam of light zipped down onto the MDBmb's surface, materializing into a reploid on a speeder bike. With blinding speed, the Maverick Hunter floated past trees and shrubs that spontaneously combusted due to the heat....and promptly hit a rock. *Note: yeah, I haven't posted anything much yet, but I wanted to at least send MegaMan down to take a look around Considering that I DID mention him way back when this started, but was too busy to read. He's just going down for reconnaisance and won't, I repeat WON'T win the helmet should he participate.* § Yes he is, just TISH never posted his stats. When they reached the Hilly, Sasuke idmediatly told his Docmen to heal Waveman. "In the mean time, I'll Chilly Willy ignored his question and handed him a fish with a blank stare.
Joeman quickly turned toward Sasuke in reaction to hearing this and said," You Sasuke looked at Joeman and let the thought Meanwhile, chilly willy handed a large mackerel to Joeman as if to say 'thanks for saving Wave Man, who is billy's friend and mine,' but not comprehending, Joeman accepted the fish with a blank stare. Amazed with the thought that someone might both understand AND speak blank stare/hand-them-a-fish-ese, chilly willy replied to Joeman's blank stare that basically meant 'I need to find a silly clown hat for my pet squid' with 'I don't know where to find a squid-size clown hat' by handing him three sardines and a flounder, the flounder being held upside down. Still not understanding, Joeman handed the mackerel back to chilly willy as he took the other fish into his arms. Realizing that Joeman had responded to 'I don't know where to find a squid-size clown hat' with 'thanks for saving Wave Man, who is billy's friend and mine,' chilly willy decided that the silly large bipeds (with the obvious omission of billy chilly) still couldn't speak his language. In his own way, he laughed with a blank stare while handing Joeman six anchovies, three rainbow trout, and two catfish (not to mention the partridge in a pear tree), which means 'I find your silly use of fish rather amusing, although you're nothing but a unique robotic recreation of those whimsical large bipeds that do not speak my language, with the obvious omission of billy chilly.
