(Afterthought: Yeah right...they ended up being a big headache)

Posticons:

A new of posticons have been implemented to reduce some of the confusion on the board.

Ability System:

Rather than declare a bunch of attacks that hardly anyone uses, a new system has been devised to simplify the character creation process.

Note on Special Attacks:
There will be NO declared special attacks.  Special Attacks will be defined as "a combination of attacks and fighting styles to form a more powerful attack"  Throw them out the window.  These will be developed by the other posters during a battle...they will be based on Attacks and Fighting Styles you declare.  You may ask the writer to include one, but it's entirely left up to them.

Also, Desperation Moves (aka Near-Death Attacks) are also classified as Special Attacks and are not used.

Characters are given ability slots to declare different attributes.  The slots come in form of 1 attack slot, 1 defensive slot, 1 fighting style slot, and 4 free slots.

Attack Slot: One default attack must be declared here.  This can be a sword, gun, any other item of attack or a non-physical attack, such as energy blasts, fireballs, etc.

Defensive Slot: One defense must be declared here.  This can be a shield, a force field, teleportation, or whatever.

Fighting Style Slot: One default fighting style must be declared here.  This will be your primary fighting style.  Usually this will be some form of martial art, a fighting style from a game, or something similar.

Free Slots: These four slots can be used to add on attacks, defenses, or fighting styles.  It's up to you as to how you want to use them.

Battle & Story Rules:

1. COMMENTS DURING BATTLES AND POSTS WILL BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM!  In BOTP2 there was WAY too much off topic chatter.  This clutters up the battle & story posts and makes for confusion.  Please try to keep all comments in the Battle Discussion forum, and only post a comment to a battle or story if it's important and related to what's going on.

2. Keep ALL attacks reasonable. No, "I use KI to blow up the universe" or "I summon a fleet of 83,246,018,264 heavily armed X-Wings carrying neutron bombs."

3. You can write about yourself and set up battles about yourself, but when it comes to the fights themselves, someone else has to write the outcome.  (This rule only applies to battles.)

4. Once your character is dead, you're done. You can write about other characters, but your guy is going to have to sit out the rest of the Battle.

5. A character's weapons cannot be stolen or lost, but they can be temporarily disabled.

6. Feel free to form grudges or alliances. Careful though, because anything goes in the MDB World.  HOWEVER, you can't take a grudge out on someone using another character.

7. ALL bios should have the following:

  • Description
    • Name
    • ALL physical traits you care to be known (the more the easier for others to write about you)
    • Home/Place of origin
    • Transportation or lack thereof
    • Personality traits/Motive
    • Pre-existing alliances/grudges (if any)
  • Abilities (see the Ability System for details)

Late Entry Policy:

In BOTP2 we had 2 new entries come in in the middle of the series.  One was a good poster, the other wasn't.  We enjoyed MadScienticeT2000's contribution to BOTP2...BUT we DO NOT want another Niftyandnew fiasco.

To join after the sign-up ending date...you must BEG the review board, which comprises of Fero (myself), Yamato Man, Shifter, and Insane Space Hunter.  These are our BOTP3 names.

Further more...the rules are stricter for late comers.  There will be a "No battle or story after seven days, and you ass is out."  That is, unless you prove you're a reliable participant and NOT another Niftyandnew.
