Personality:Van doesn't trust people he doesn't know, and is known to make rash and unwise desisions. He is very protective of the people he cares about. Van is mostly a loner, and he doesn't have very many people he can trust.

Background: Van was crowned king of Fanelia at the age of 15, upon slaying a dragon and taking it heart or drag-energist (the needed power source for the Escaflowne)as a right of passage. The same day Fanelia was attacked and razed to the ground. From there Van, Escaflowne, and a girl named Hitomi where wisked off into a war against the Empire of Zaibach. During the war Van learned of his Draconian blood line, Draconians are a winged people. They're the descendents of Atlantis. They look like everyone else except when they want they can sprout their wings. It is believed that they are a cursed clan. That all who come near them die. They are believed to be the destroyers of Atlantis. For this reason they are ostracized, and feel that they must hide their true identity.
After the war Van deactived the Escaflowne, Hitomi went back to her own world of earth, Van began to re-build the kingdom of Fanelia. Five years after the war Van was compelled to re-visit the resting place of the Escaflowne, from there Van's new adventure begins.


Character Abilities
Skills: Van is a expert Swordman, after training under the best swordsmen in all of Gaea, and he is a expert Guymelef pilot.

Armament: Van only carries a Katana passed on as a sword of the king of Fanelia. The Escaflowne only carries a 7 foot long sword on it's back, Escaflowne also contains power Van hasn't discovered yet.

Protection: The only protection Van has is the Escaflowne, he'll use it in most battles, the escaflowne also turnes into a dragon type device for flying, although he is able to defend himself without it.

Style: Van fights very aggressively charging in quickly and taking his enemies down. Van only fights with a sword, with the Escaflowne or without it.
